The beach is a popular place to spend your summer days. While it can be a place to sit back and relax, there are also a number of things you can do to have fun and be active while enjoying the beach. Here are some activities you can engage in while soaking in the sun:
Running/Jogging: The beach is a great place to go for a run or a jog. Running and jogging is not only great cardio activity but doing it in the sand requires the use of more of the muscles in your legs as it is not a firm surface.
Swimming: Go ahead and jump in the water! Swimming is a great activity as it engages almost all the muscles in your body. Additionally, swimming is a wonderful activity that causes less damage to joints as the activity is happening in water which is more impact-friendly.
Before you jump in, always ensure the area is safe for swimming. Avoid areas where strong currents are present. Make sure there’s a lifeguard on duty and try not to swim too far from the shoreline, in case you need to come in quickly for a number of safety reasons.
Beach Volleyball: A friendly or competitive game of beach volleyball is a great way to be active at the beach. Beach volleyball can be great cardio while also engaging the majority of the muscles in the body. Grab some friends or some strangers and get a game going!
Surfing: Surfing and the beach go hand in hand. This sport engages your core for balance and works out your arms while paddling out. Surfing is a great way to have fun but again make sure you are in a safe area, with lifeguards present. A surfing buddy is another great safety measure that can also add to your enjoyment.
Water Fight: Let the inner kid in you run loose and grab a couple of friends and organize a water fight. Running around the beach trying to soak your friends and trying to avoid their attempts to soak you is great way to have fun and keep moving on your day out.
There are plenty of ways to have fun and be active at the beach. However, it is important to make sure that you don’t forget to protect your skin while you are out having fun in the sun. Make sure to adequately apply and reapply sunscreen every two hours or less if you’re getting wet or working up a sweat.
Don’t forget that hats and other protective clothing can be a great way to protect your skin from the UV rays. Hydration is also important, so make sure you drink plenty of water throughout the day as heat exhaustion can be a serious concern. The beach can be a great place to spend the day but as with any physical outdoor activity, take the time to ensure necessary precautions are in place to have a safe and enjoyable time.
